Astro Projects is an independently owned Australian company based in Sydney and services health and sustainability suppliers across the county. We are leading the way in the rapidly growing LOHAS market and helping you to bridge the divide between a highly sceptical and difficult to convince audience and the great health or lifestyle products they need.

We help you identify the key value levers that motivate LOHAS consumer behaviour and design an online sale process that will take them straight to your door. We employ sound, proven and rigorous methodologies to establish where efforts are best directed to deliver the highest sales.

Much of our work involves analysis of what many would think of as ‘below the line’ activities such as pay-per-click performance, SEO optimisation, LOHAS behaviour analysis and online sales pipeline management. We help identify market niches and opportunities for clients then use effective and robust processes to drive consumers to the goods and services they want to buy.

What the heck is LOHAS?

According to Wikipedia, Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) is a demographic defining a particular market segment related to sustainable living, "green" ecological initiatives, and generally composed of a relatively upscale and well-educated population segment. The author Paul H. Ray, who coined the term Cultural Creatives in his book by the same name, explains that "What you're seeing is a demand for products of equal quality that are also virtuous."

“LOHAS may be the biggest market you’ve never heard of encompassing [goods and services ranging from] organic food, energy efficient appliances and solar panels [to] alternative medicine, yoga tapes and eco-tourism” - New York Times

Current estimates by the Mobium Group value the LOHAS consumer market in Australia at $21.5Bn and growing rapidly. LOHAS consumers’ lifestyle and purchasing decisions are informed by their values regarding personal, family and community health, environmental sustainability and social justice. These values and attitudes are driving the markets for products as diverse as renewable energy, solar hot water, organic foods, recycled and sustainable homewares, domestic rainwater tanks, sustainable timbers, natural cleaning products, alternative medicine, yoga and eco-tourism.

LOHAS Australians have also been at the forefront of pressure for government and corporate action on climate change, protection of ecosystems and sustainable water resources.

Preferred suppliers

Astro Projects only works with health and sustainability suppliers it trusts, and believes it can add value to. These suppliers are existing businesses with a solid track record in the delivery of health and sustainability offerings. They have a clear and highly visible commitment to sustainability and are transparent about their actions, processes and messages.

Our values

  • To take the guesswork and confusion out of selling to LOHAS consumers.
  • To offer a better alternative to broad-based marketing and “hit-and-miss” sales acquisition.
  • Guaranteed independent, unbiased and frank advice to clients.
  • Investment in our own systems to enable us to deliver better, more efficient services.

Why was Astro Projects created?

Over the last couple of years there has been an explosion in the number of consumers looking to make healthier and more sustainable purchases. At the same time a plethora of shoddy goods and services, failed government programs and overpriced offerings and “green washing” has left consumers confused and sceptical. Consumers are questioning the sustainability credentials of products and services when making purchasing decisions and most don’t know how to verify information they are given and claims made.

Astro Projects was created to overcome this problem and help suppliers connect easily with these consumers. We are about providing practical, cost-effective solutions so there is both a win-win situation for consumers who buy products and services and suppliers who make those goods and services available.
